Situated at the foot of the Quantock Hills, a delightful holiday cottage available to rent in the picturesque West Somerset village of Stogumber. The Old Post Office is a traditional thatched cottage dating from the 17th Century and has been recently refurbished to a high standard providing a comfortable home-from-home for guests throughout the year. Nestled between the Quantock Hills and Exmoor, Stogumber is a thriving community of approximately 600 people with a local pub (The White Horse Inn) with award winning real ales and traditional pub meals, village shop & post office, picturesque church and village cricket club. The village is a short drive from the wonderful walks on Exmoor and The Quantocks, and convenient for the beaches and coastline of West Somerset and North Devon. Local attractions suitable for all the family include The West Somerset Railway, with Stogumber Station approximately a 1 mile walk with a regular steam train service, Dunster Castle, The Tropiquaria Zoo, and shops and restaurants in Taunton and Minehead. The surrounding countryside has some superb local walks for all ages, shapes and sizes, either through the winding country lanes with ancient hedgerows, or along footpaths and across the rolling hills. The house has been through an interesting history and was once two cottages. During the early 20th Century the cottage was made in to one premises and used as a post office, the King George post box is still in the wall of the cottage and post is collected twice a day. The house was then turned in to a private residence in the 1970s with one owner for 30 years. The house is now owned by a local family for their own use and for holiday rentals. The cottage has been refurbished throughout to include new night storage heaters, fully fitted kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge and electric oven and microwave. The bathroom features an electric power shower, and thermostat controlled panel heaters in the bedrooms. At the rear of the cottage is a family friendly walled garden with lovely country views, patio with dining table and barbeque (just be careful of the thatched roof!).
